Dayton, and Columbus areas
Alpine
Tower Experience:
55' high climbing structure
Participants climb
their way up telephone polls, cargo nets, climbing holds, and ropes
toward a fifty foot high platform. An exhilarating 300 foot zip line
takes them softly to the ground.
This dynamic event
focuses on the interdependence that teams need in order to encourage
risk taking with a reasonable “safety net” under them. Individuals are
inspired by each other's efforts and achievements while playing an
integral role in the safety system.

Gemini
Ropes Challenge: formerly known as Thriller,
25-35
Foot High Ropes Course
This newly
renovated course is designed to be a shared experience. Navigation
requires relying on each other for advice, support, safety and will
power. A maze of ropes,
cables, beams, bridges, ladders and swings challenges participants 25-35
feet off the ground. Problem-solving, risk-taking, and encouragement
combine for a unique and safe experience. Updates include a
total of 21 elements, a twin/double zip line and a 18 foot tall
observation deck called The Leadership Lookout.

Polaris Ropes
Challenge – replaces Shake and Bake (retired in 2007)
JOEC’s new adventure initiative includes a staircase
entry, accessible elements, and universal zip-line.
30 feet off of the ground participants are challenged to set a goal and
then step out of their comfort zones to achieve that goal.
Participants receive positive and mental support from their peers
as they strive to reach their personal goals.

Lee
Reading Ropes Course (Indoor): 20-30
Foot High Ropes Course
Joy’s unique indoor ropes experience.
Participants will explore the role of trust, risk-taking and
support for creating an effective learning environment.

The
Pamper Pole:
22' High Personal Challenge Activity
A 22 foot pole
looking out over a beautiful river valley challenges participants to its
top. Will they choose to jump or just let go?
The Pamper Pole challenges participants to explore how they can
support each other in letting go of old paradigms and moving to new ways
of leading and learning.

The
Quantum Leap:
Trust Activity
This indoor version
of the Pamper Pole is a dynamic experience available anytime of the
year. Adjust your goal with an adjustable ladder that is secured for
climbing by your peers holding ropes.
Stand on a tiny platform and jump for a suspended target or just
give yourself to the safety team.
It is motivating to the participant and teammates who provide
encouragement and support every step of the way!

The JOY
Climbing Wall:
Team Leadership
The Center's wall is
inside the Procter & Gamble Learning Center making available year-round.
This event blends the excitement of rock climbing with the valuable
lessons learned through the Belay School. Individuals rotate through the
positions of climber, primary and secondary belayer and coach, learning
the power which teams generate through shared leadership and intrinsic
motivation.

The
Dangle Duo (a.k.a. The Career Ladder):
Team Challenge
This strenuous event
is done with a partner and is available outside at both the “Dueling”
Poles and Alpine Tower and inside the Rec. Center and P&G Center. The
vertical ladder is 30' long with rungs that get progressively farther
apart the higher you climb.
Each higher level you reach requires more teamwork.

Crate
Climb:
Teambuilding Activity
Stack them high,
stack them low, and just watch out when they go! Individual
climbers or pairs of climbers set goals to see how many milk crates they
can stack and climb.

The Flying Squirrel:
Team Challenge
Ever wonder what
it’s like to fly? As your
team pulls, you soar up to 45 feet in the air.
This activity helps an individual achieve their own personal goal
with the assistance of the entire team.

The Group Wall: a
12 Foot High Team Challenge Activity
A 12 foot wall
stands in the way of a group and its goal. How do they overcome it? How
will you overcome it? Your
group will need to practice proactive planning for effective performance
in overcoming the wall.

Serum
Rescue and S.O.A.R. Survival:
Simulated survival exercise requiring back country trekking and group
decision making.
Participants must
"survive" an airplane crash in the backwoods of Montana, deal with
adverse situations and make decisions that affect the outcome of the
group.

Group
Initiatives:
Cooperation Course
These team building
activities challenge groups to use creativity and envision a future of
effective collaboration and community support.
Groups will learn to collaborate, communicate, listen and build
leadership skills.

Retired: Shake and Bake

participants.
Used primarily by the Outdoor School and Camps & Retreats programs, the
