Core Camp
Core Camp will be held from July 6-10, 2009. The
program is for teens who are between the ages of 12-16 and is limited to
approximately 40 participants. Core Camp is a camper council
designed to help campers create camp for others. This one-week summer
camp experience is designed to kick-off the next group of teen leaders.
The Core Camp curriculum continues throughout the year with monthly
meetings and weekend reunions. If you are looking for an opportunity to
build leadership skills and willing to make a year-long commitment,
register for Core Camp today!
Core Campers develop leadership skills through:
• Teambuilding activities
• Leadership workshops
• Small group team projects
• Adventure trips (such as canoeing or biking)
• College visit
• Living in rustic cabins (the rustic shelters are removed from main
camp and do not have running water or electricity)
Core Camp is reserved for teens interested in
participating in the year-round program. The program meets monthly in
Cincinnati to work on leadership skills and develop programs and
mediation skills for working with younger campers.
The week of Core Camp costs $325. Financial aid is
available.

JOEC's Core Camp Wins Award!
In 2007 JOEC’s Core Camp
received the Boys & Girls Clubs Program Award for the
state of Ohio . The program is the result of collaboration between
JOEC and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati. The
year-round program helps teens develop leadership skills through
meetings in
Cincinnati
during the school year and participation in camp with younger children
at JOEC in the summer. The award is an acknowledgement of what
wonderful things can happen when two nonprofit organizations share a
common goal to help young adults become positive role models and
leaders. Core Camp is just one of several programs that JOEC and
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati have worked on together during
the 10 years they have partnered so that youth from
economically-disadvantaged households can enjoy summer camp and other
fun, safe outdoor learning experiences.
