passion for working with children!
The staff members
play a variety of roles such as counselor, nurse, teacher, mediator,
playmate and friend. The joy staff members create a very diverse and
loving family that any child would hope to join.
Amy Thompson,
Summer Camps Director
Amy became the
Director in 2002 after two years as the Associate Director of Camping
and Retreats. She discovered her passion for the camping field after two
years at the YMCA of the Rockies. She recently completed her Master's in
Recreation Management from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
and a non-profit certificate from Duke University. A former bobcat at
Ohio University she has the mid-west at heart. Contact Amy at

Kevin
Hackman,
Medical & Family Camps Associate Director
Kevin came to JOEC in
1993 as a Specialty Camper, and was hooked. He became the Retreat
Coordinator in 2006. Kevin started as an educator in the Outdoor
School Program, 2002-2005, worked with summer camp 2003-2004 and most
recently was the Adventure and Safety Coordinator. Kevin graduated
from Xavier University in 2002 with a B.A. in Psychology. Contact

Jack Murphy,
Youth Agency
Camps Associate Director
Jack became
the Camps Coordinator in 2007.
He was introduced to camp as a summer dish washer by his sister
in the late 90s and has been doing it ever since.
Jack comes to us from a neighboring camp, Camp Kern, and has a
genuine passion about working with kids and enriching the lives of the
people around him. He has a
B.A. in Secondary Education Social Studies from the Indiana University.
